MeetLens Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 29, 2026
MeetLens (“we”, “the extension”) provides live translated subtitles for online meetings and an assistant to chat about them. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how we handle it. It covers both the Chrome extension and the MeetLens web app.
What we collect
- Meeting audio (transient) — when you press Start, the extension captures the audio of the active meeting tab and streams it to our backend solely to produce a transcript and translation. The audio is processed in real time and is not stored after processing.
- Transcripts & translations — the resulting text (original + translation), grouped by speaker, is saved to your account so you can reopen past meetings.
- Chat messages — questions you ask about a meeting and the assistant’s replies are saved with that meeting.
- Account info — when you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address, and Google account ID, used only to identify your account and keep your data private to you.
- Settings — your language and display preferences are stored locally in the browser.
How we use it
- To transcribe and translate meeting speech in real time.
- To save your meeting history and let you chat about past meetings.
- To authenticate you and keep each user’s data separate.
We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it for any purpose unrelated to providing the service.
Third-party processors
To provide the features above, audio/text is sent to these services strictly for processing:
- Soniox — speech-to-text and translation of the meeting audio.
- OpenRouter (Google Gemini, OpenAI embeddings) — powers the chat assistant, mindmaps, titles, re-translation, and turns transcript text into embeddings for retrieval, using the meeting transcript as context.
- mem0 — stores semantic “memories” (key facts, decisions, action items) extracted from longer meetings so the assistant can recall them when you ask.
- Qdrant — stores embeddings of transcript excerpts (a vector database) so the assistant can retrieve the parts relevant to your question in longer meetings.
- Tavily — only when you explicitly enable Web Search for a question, to fetch results from the web.
- Google — sign-in (OAuth).
Data storage & retention
Transcripts and chat are stored in our database, associated with your account, until you delete the meeting or request account deletion. Raw audio is never retained. Settings live only in your browser.
Your choices
- Delete any meeting from the app to remove its transcript and chat.
- Sign out at any time from the web app or the extension.
- Request deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing us (below). We will remove it promptly.
Permissions
The extension requests only the permissions it needs:
tabCapture— capture the meeting tab’s audio for transcription/translation.offscreen— process audio (the only context allowed to run audio in Chrome).storage— save settings and your sign-in token.scripting/activeTab— show the subtitle overlay and control panel in the meeting tab.
Children
MeetLens is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
